Essentials for painting on fabric

Our advice to paint on fabric

SneakArts acrylic paint is the best choice for painting on textiles and having a paint that is resistant to washing and water. All paints are compatible with fabric and all textile materials, natural or synthetic.

The paint works on most fabrics, whether natural fabrics like cotton or synthetic fabrics like polyester.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of fabrics on which you can use textile paint :

  • Natural fabrics : cotton, linen, jute, hemp
  • Fabrics made from animal fibers : silk, wool, cashmere
  • Synthetic fabrics : Polyester, nylon, elastane, lycra, spandex

To paint on textiles and fabrics, make sure you have a clean surface.

Apply a white undercoat if your fabric is not white, to obtain beautiful colors.

Apply the paint in 2 to 3 thin layers then let your creation dry.

Apply a varnish to protect your painting on textiles.

To seal the paint on fabric, add a finisher to keep beautiful colors and have better resistance.

You can also heat the paint with a hair dryer or a heat gun so that the pigment penetrates the fabric.

To remove paint from fabric try using soap and water to fade the stain if it is not completely dry.

Unfortunately, fabric paint is permanent and cannot be removed, so it is advisable to protect your clothes well before painting.
