It is important to take stock of your equipment and protect your personal belongings before starting a custom. Place a piece of sheet or newspaper under your phone case and wear an apron.

In addition to paints and brushes, you will need a primer and varnish. You can also use stencils and markers to achieve more effects.

How to paint your phone case?

Prepare the phone before painting

Then you can make the design you want with your paint. On a dark support, it is advisable to apply 1 to 2 undercoats of white beforehand to bring out the nuances.

Setting up your stencils

Take pre-designed or self-made stencils and remove the parts to be painted using a precision cutter or a hook.

Cut out the outline of the pattern and redo the cut on transfer paper, leaving a wider space.

Then, place the transfer paper on your stencil and scrape well so that they merge. Lift the transparent part.

Position the latter on your hull in the desired location, scrape and remove the transfer diagonally, not forgetting any part of the pattern. Dry with a hair dryer.

Filling your stencils

In the stencil, after putting your undercoat of white as a standard color, brighten up your creation with the shades that you want. Shake the bottle before.

To apply the layers with the sponge, it is recommended to first use the small part by tapping the excess paint on the side. And secondly sponge by pressing moderately via the wide part. Dry between layers for 15 minutes or 30 seconds in the dryer. It should not be too close.

Varnish the result

Before varnishing your custom definitively make sure you have put all the details that suit you. You can trace the outlines of your fillings with a leather paint marker if the colors do not stand out enough. Do not hesitate with your marker to stylize your creation by incorporating writing.

Let your case dry for 24 hours before applying the varnish to avoid any smudging. When the final creation is completely dry. Come varnish everything with a clean brush to fix it and accentuate the brightness of the colors on the leather. Apply 2 or 3 thin and delicate layers for an optimal rendering.

When using special paint for leather and imitation leather, remember to shake your bottles before use. This allows the pigments to rise to the surface and thus obtain a beautiful finish.
